Background
Renowned architectural conservator and designer Xorin Balbes experienced success at an early age but it left him unfulfilled. In search of a deeper meaning in his life he embarked on a journey of self discovery that fundamentally changed his perspective about the role that design plays in our daily lives.

In 2000, Xorin launched the architecture and design firm TempleHome, a name chosen specifically to reinforce his strongly held belief that if people treated their homes with the same reverence that they treated other sacred spaces they could achieve beauty and peace in all areas of their lives.

Xorin discovered that the process of exploring the interior design of a home can lead to a new and enriched understanding of an individual's real "interior design": the way they think, dream, live, love and perceive the world. This was true whether someone was a renter or a homeowner, upgrading to a new house or downsizing after a divorce. He named this design philosophy SoulSpace.

The SoulSpace process teaches people how to listen to the messages inherent in the way they have unconsciously created their homes so they can recreate their spaces to support the lives they want to lead in order to feel fulfilled, nourished and strong. Once renters and homeowners face their belongings, confront their fears, un-clutter their spaces, and discover their personal truths, they can harness their creativity, transform their homes and their lives and find refuge, renewal and splendor within their own four walls.

As clients began to share their personal success stories and sought him out for further insight, Xorin expanded SoulSpace into a 7 step process that would guide users in how to approach home design and renovation in a completely different way; from assessing their current space, to releasing those things that no longer serve them to imaging the possibility of what comes next. He designed it to work as a balance of inspiration, self-discovery and practical solutions for any budget, any time, anywhere.

Much like Xorin's own journey of discovery, SoulSpace represented the intersection of home and self improvement with a stirring call to action, "transform your home, transform your life."

In 2009 Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavor began representing Xorin and a book and television deal soon followed, partnering him with leading production company Magical Elves, creators of numerous financially successful and critically acclaimed reality television programs including Project Runway and Top Chef.

At the same time, Xorin assembled a team of design, retail/marketing and technology executives to launch a digital platform for TempleHome that would redefine the retail experience by producing a deeper emotional connection to design.
